Federal University of Health Sciences Ila-Orangun Medical Students Association (FUHSIMSA) is the recognised student body of every medical student admitted into the MBBS programme of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun. Membership is open to every FUHSI medical student - regardless of race, religion, tribe, sex or political affiliation - and is governed by our Constitution, adopted on July 13, 2024 and reviewed on July 31, 2025.

We, the medical students of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, in order to foster unity and understanding among our members, safeguard the medical profession, and cultivate a healthy learning community, do hereby give ourselves this Constitution.
Our Mission
To actively advance the academic, professional, and personal development of medical students by safeguarding their welfare and delivering utility-driven resources. The association is dedicated to cultivating a resilient learning community, promoting the rigorous ethical standards of the medical field, and engineering robust partnerships with clinical alumni, faculty administrations, and external healthcare networks. Through deliberate advocacy and peer-led medical research initiatives, we empower members to elevate community health standards and excel as prospective clinical leaders.

To be a premier medical students' association recognized globally for fostering transformative clinical excellence, unwavering professional integrity, and grassroots public health advocacy. We aspire to build a unified community of health professionals who leverage digital health innovation, collaborative leadership, and academic resilience to shape the future of medical education and clinical utility solutions across Africa and beyond.
From a drafting committee to a movement.
The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun Medical Students' Association (FUHSIMSA) was established on July 13, 2024, following the successful drafting and adoption of its primary legal framework. The foundation of the association was engineered by a dedicated Constitution Drafting Committee composed of nine foundational students: Senator Emmanuel Olutayo, Senator Fawziyyah Afolabi, Senator Israel Haastrup, Senator Mazidat Salawu, Senator Ore Oluwa Adewumi, Senator Salaudeen Sofiyullah, Senator Clement Akinjole, Senator Victor Lawrence, and Senator Dunamis Ayilara.
FUHSIMSA is currently in its second administrative tenure, built upon a foundation of meaningful and impactful work delivered by both past and present executive councils. Moving forward systematically within this 2026 calendar cycle, the association remains deeply committed to advancing sustainable leadership, medical innovation, and exceptional student advocacy to strengthen its growing undergraduate legacy.
Aims & Objectives

- 04Facilitate cooperation between students, alumni and staff of the College of Medicine.
- 05Build relationships with NMA, NiMSA, FAMSA, IFMSA and other professional bodies.
- 06Contribute to health education and improve community health.
- 07Promote and uphold the ethical standards of the medical profession.
- 08Encourage academic and research pursuits in medicine.
- 09Showcase FUHSI medical students locally and internationally.
- 10Advance medical education through seminars, conferences and clinical exposure.

The Executive Council
Day-to-day leadership - President, Vice President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, PRO, Welfare, Socials, Sports and Special Duties Officers for clinicals and pre-clinicals.
The Senate
The legislative arm. Reviews policy, approves the budget, ratifies appointments and holds the Executive Council accountable on behalf of the Congress.
The Congress
The general assembly of all registered FUHSIMSA members - the highest deliberative body of the Association.
The Judicial Commission
Interprets the Constitution, hears petitions and ensures every organ of FUHSIMSA acts within the law of the Association.
